Roan is a gene that desaturates/sun bleached a large portion of a croc's torso, either lightening or darkening the coat. Roan must follow color rules and remain in the same color group as the basecoat.
Roan can sit either under or over other markings.
If choosing to make Roan a bottom layer marking, it acts as part of the base coat. Markings that overlap the croc's roan in this case can either keep their normal saturation, or take on a less saturated color.
If choosing to make Roan a top layer marking, Roan must sit over all other markings with the exception of marks that are required to be white like Free White, Piebald, Overo, etc...!
The marking must start either at the top of the back or the underbelly of the croc. It does not need to fill the whole area but must be touching either the top of the back or the underbelly or both. This marking color is deprived from the base color.
Special Forms
Appaloosa can only be inherited if the croc is carrying it in its linage.
Appaloosa sits on top of all markings.
Appaloosa range rules and color rules follows roan rules, but appaloosa contains soft round holes within the marking.
