The Lemon About The Poem”
An Interpretation by Ben Macy
With an introduction by Isaac Einstein
Lyrics by Edwin Hubble Arranged by d'Fault
They have lemons and poems
And poems about lemons
But their xylems and phloems
(Just like Samuel Clemens')
Are lame and I'll show'em
With the lemon about the poem!
They told him he could not
Be more than lemonade
So instead he thought
I'll be self made
So he looked into the heavens
For things with 2257's
When “I'll be about be about a poem” he said,
Next to the old willow
The look upon their peels was dread
They made him alphabetize until O
“To be about a poem is an impossible thing,
And it would be easier to make a seagull sing.”
The rhyming was scorbutic
The melody was curvy
He encountered once a blue tick
Got lemon-lime disease and scurvy
And as it took away his passion
It gave his old pulp quite a mashin'
Next year is the twentieth annual Saxophone Christmas, in San Jose, California.
