Operation: Radishes

An attempt at root training with a young plum tree.

Part I;

I have placed the sapling over a large pit, suspended on two large wooden planks. It has about a square foot of soil, a couple inches deep, bounded by bricks.The goal is to encourage the roots to grow sideways and expand the soil area along the planks until they both encounter the edge of the pit. Then I will let the roots grow and eventually try to form them into a dome along the edge of the pit.
