It is a network of foot paths and stairways surrounding a garden. The VGW provides a pedestrian passageway to Mission St, Cortland Ave, and the hillwide Bernal Heights neighborhood. The garden provides a habitat for migratory species from Precita Park, Bernal Height Park, and Holly Park. You can read more about the history here.
The VGW is located in the 300 block of Virginia Ave between Winfield St and Elsie St in Northwest Bernal Heights.
The Friends of the VGW applied for and received the 2022 Community Challenge Grant to make improvements at the Virginia Garden Walk. The project included establishing a regenerative garden, installing saftey solar lighting, commissioning a panoramic mural to the walk, and creating a welcoming space in the neighborhood.
