Thaecian Congress Show High Levels of Activity in First Few Days

March 11, 2020

With the legislative elections now fully behind us, it is time for Thaecia to experience what it voted for in the elections. Both Legislative chambers were dogged with inactivity over the past few months and there was a major focus on activity for the candidates that stood in the election. And it seems that the current Senators and MPs are fulfilling their promises on activity.

Due to the need for a new, refounded House of Commons, the business in the HoC was slightly delayed, however business has now begun and is looking promising. Currently in the process of approving the ministers of the current executive administration, the House has seen many questions posed to the ministers from different MPs. The House has also seeing activity from the Members of the House in terms of voting, with 7 votes coming within the first hour of voting. Hopefully this early activity can be replicated further into the term, for a very successful term for the House.

In terms of the Senate, we’ve seen a very active debate on the controversial Media Certification Act (which at the time of writing has been put on hold) and now a debate on a Constitutional amendment. We’ve definitely seen a very bright and active Senate in the first few days of the term, and I’m sure the rest of Thaecia is hoping that this activity continues.

To conclude, we’ve seen a good rate of activity in the two Legislative houses, both making important decisions for the region. However we are in the early days, and so it is up to Senators and MPs to keep the activity going.
