Among other things, I find my way. And sometimes, The ways I find do not resemble anything I have done before. (But then, sometimes they do….)
I will take an idea and squeeze everything out of it I can. I look at it from different angles, different places. I consider the mark I can make, whether with dye, paint, or the stitch. And I consider all that a conversation.
I see my quilt work as an eclectic personal expression based on the classical form of the quilt. Over the years I have slopped dye onto fabric and discovered I love the accident and unexpected. I have stitched and stitched with a machine, by hand, and with mega-machine (my longarm, Millie) and discovered I love the errant line, the intuitive following of muscle memory.
In looking for my voice, I have discovered a boundless trove of experiences that has given me the quiet subject matter I explore.
