Space;1999 was a television series produced in England between 1974 and 1977. The first series was TV's version of 2001; A Space Odyssey, however the second was more like Starsky and Hutch in Space. Visually the sets and effects mostly rival any Hollywood movies of the era with the exception of Star Wars, which wouldn't premiere in the UK until after 1999 had finished production.
Fifty years on we fans still like to get together to discuss the series, listen to talks and have a drink or two...
Nick Tate starred as astronaut Alan Carter in both series of Space; 1999. He was the lead pilot of Moonbase Alpha's squadron of Eagle spaceships and was one of the more accessible characters in the show. He's also very personable in real life, with lots of humorous and informative stories of his time on the production.
Away from Space; 1999, Tate has appeared in such varied movies such as Cry in the Dark (with Meryl Streep) and Licensed to Love and Kill (with Gareth Hunt). In the 90's and early 2000's he was the voice behind the trailers advertising films such as 'Jurassic Park' and 'Schindler's List'.

Christien Anholt is the son of Tony Anholt, who played security chief Tony Verdeschi in the second season of Space;1999 and an actor in his own right. Tony regrettably passed away in 2002.
As a child Christien visited the set of Space;1999 with his father. He also revealed that Tony had been able to salvage a few main props (a Comlock and Stun Gun) which he gifted to Christien after filming ended.
Christien spoke warmly about his father and his memories of the programme.

Anton played doctor Bob Mathias in Space;1999 and is one of the few characters who appears in both the first and second series. However after just two early episodes of the year 2 Phillips decided to leave the part, feeling that the role was not developing.
He spoke passionately about his craft. After 1999 he started his own theatre company and has been responsible for several major stage productions.
Carolyn Seymour appears as a guest star in the year 2 episode 'The Seance Spectre'. Just prior to that appearance she had starred in the first season of the popular BBC science fiction series 'Survivors'.
Suzanne Peterson appeared in Space;1999 throughout both years. However her face is rarely seen on screen as she was star Barbara Bain’s
stand-in, although she can be seen as an Alphan in several episodes.

John Hug tested for the role of Tony Verdeshi in year 2 of Space;1999, a role that ultimately went to Tony Anholt. However Hug obviously impressed the producers as he was then cast as eagle pilot Bill Frazer for nine episodes of the new season.
Space;1999 was his first filmed series and Hug really seemed to enjoy the experience. John spoke warmly about the film crew. Even fifty years on he recalls his work on the series in 1977 as one of the most enjoyable summers of his life.
