About Us

The Society for Economics Representation and Networking (SERN) is a non-profit organization that aims to provide a supportive and inclusive peer-based environment for women and non-binary economists. We believe that building a more equitable profession requires supporting these faculty at all rankings of colleges and universities and ensuring that research does not become the residual to other responsibilities. SERN aims to achieve these goals through events which support research productivity, collaboration, and networking, including writing retreats, online workshops, weekly writing club meetings, and conference happy hours.

The Society for Economics Representation and Networking was created by Dr. Darwyyn Deyo during the inaugural Econ Ladies Writing Retreat in July 2021.
