About The Rogue Librarian Reviews
Who I Am
I’m Will Swartz—writer, hiker, sleep nerd, and the Rogue Librarian behind this motley collection of reviews. I’ve spent decades testing gear, devouring books, tinkering with tools, and chasing down the truth about whether something actually works… or just sounds good in the marketing brochure.
My background is in libraries, teaching, and publishing, but my curiosity has always wandered farther afield—into trail dust, bookshops, and tech rabbit holes. This site is where all those paths intersect.
What I Do Here
Every review is based on first-hand experience. I buy, borrow, or occasionally accept a sample (and I tell you when I do). I run each product through its paces in real-life conditions—whether that’s a week on the trail, months at my desk, or nights in the never-ending experiment that is sleep improvement.
Then I strip out the jargon, add a pinch of humor, and give you clear takeaways:
Why “Rogue Librarian”?
Because I approach every review like a reference question in a library—find the facts, dig into the sources, and don’t stop until you’ve got the best possible answer. The “rogue” part? That’s for going beyond the safe, tidy stacks into the messy, hands-on world where you actually use things.
Books worth reading (and re-reading)
Hiking gear that survives real trails
Sleep products that actually help you rest
Writing and AI tools that save time without killing creativity
If I’ve tested it and it’s worth talking about, you’ll find it here—minus the hype.
