Did you know that poultry is one of the most vital sources of protein for human nutrition globally? ππ
At the R-lab, we conduct critical research at the intersection of animal health and human well-being. By protecting poultry from infectious diseases, we aim to improve animal welfare while simultaneously protecting public health.
Our current research focuses on understanding bacterial infections in chickens, with a specific emphasis on Avian Pathogenic E. coli (APEC). Utilizing advanced molecular genotyping tools and animal challenge models, we investigate how these pathogens function and explore their virulence within the host.Β
Looking forward, our goal is to expand our research to other bacterial pathogens that impact both poultry health and human medicine.
"Protecting food safety and public health by understanding poultry diseases. Because animal welfare and human health are connected."
