BLS01 Electrodynamics

Series Description: This will be an inaugural lecture series for Bose Lecture Series (BLS), Fall `24. The aim of this series is to host a bottom-top approach to electrodynamics with relevant and lengthy discussions on issues like Laplace equation, vector potential, magnetostatistics, dynamics, Maxwell's equations, electrodynamics and differential geometry, gauge theory, special relativity and so on.

Bose Lecture Series

Electrodynamics is one of the foundational pillars of the modern physics, which brings the behavior of electric and magnetic fields and their interactions with matter and radiation. Rooted in the works of great physicists like Michael Faraday, James Maxwell, Ampere and Hertz, electrodynamics has become a realization of modern physics and its industrial applications. The theoretical power of electrodynamics is often unnoticed but it is one of the first concrete realization of theoretical physics after classical and rigid body physics. Similar to electrodynamics is General Relativity (which gets it recognition though) but Special Relativity does not get the credit. We will hope to balance the recognition in this series.
