We value transparency as one of our core values, that's why we send you out these updates shortly after a meeting has taken place.

A meeting was held on Wednesday 20th May 2020, at the level crossings in Weston-Super-Mare, involving The Movement, Network Rail, North Somerset Council, and Persimmon to discuss, and most importantly, plan the short-term response to these crossings. As per action of the meeting held on the 22nd of January 2020, a plan was put in place to replace and renew these crossings with safer ones, as a temporary measure until the footbridge is built. This was planned to be between April 2020 and April 2021.
As a whole, the meeting was very positive and direct, a lot of our questions were answered and all the suggestions and demands from us and the community were put into the design. The focus was purely on the short-term plan, however, we made sure to tailor what was to be put in place for the construction of the footbridge.
The outcomes of the meeting were really inspiring, we now have a concrete plan on how these crossings will change, when these crossings will change, and how you will be aware of these details.
This is what will change at each crossing:
The total time for each crossing to be fully replaced and ready to use by the public, will be around a week. There will be lots of advance warning and specific dates released closer to when work starts.
The replacement of these crossings are planned to be replaced by the end of the school summer holidays (before September 2020) in time for the start of the academic year.
The outcomes do speak for themselves, and represent how determined all organisations involved are in getting these responses put in place to reduce the risk. Despite the circumstances we find ourselves in, during this pandemic, it is a testament to how we as a community value this issue, and how important it is for us to put measures in place as soon as we feasibly can.
We are so happy about the outcomes of this meeting, and are positive that the quick nature in how this has been resolved will be mirrored in the long-term plan for the footbridge.
For now, we will continue our own plan:
