Thanksgiving in America is celebrated on the last Thursday of November.
Some of the most popular Thanksgiving foods are turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, steamed vegetables, pumpkin pie, baked ham, rolls, and much more.
One of the most popular Thanksgiving events is the Macy's Day Parade. The parade is celebrated by having a lot of floats lined up and going down. The Macy's Day Parade is in New York City at Times Square. The Macy's Day Parade is very popular, More than 3.5 million people go to the parade because it is the second most popular in the U.S.
People also love to watch football on Thanksgiving day. Two teams always play on Thanksgiving: the Dallas Cowboys and the Detroit Lions. This year, the games were the Cowboys versus the New York Giants, the Lions versus the Chicago Bears, and the Green Bay Packers versus the Miami Dolphins.
Thanksgiving is called other names in different countries. For example, in Canada it's called "Canadian Thanksgiving," in the UK it is called the "Harvest Festival of Thanksgiving," in Brazil it's called "Dia de Ação de Graças," and in Germany, it's called "Erntedank."
What is it called where you're from? How do you celebrate?
Each year, Laurel Hill students create a design they hope will be featured on the front or back cover of the yearbook.
Deciding was difficult because we have many talented students and creative designers. Thank you to all the students who participated!
Congratulations to our grade-level winners, the back cover winner, and the front cover winner for the 2024-2025 yearbook!
Take some time to advance through the slides on the right to see all the winners and their yearbook designs.
