Call for Applications for Professor Alagaiah Thurairajah Memorial Gold Medal for Excellence in Engineering, Science, and Technology - 2026

The Jaffna Science Association is pleased to announce the Professor Alagaiah Thurairajah Memorial Gold Medal for Excellence in Engineering, Science, and Technology to honor outstanding contributions within the Northern Province of Sri Lanka. This award celebrates individuals who have demonstrated exceptional service, professional excellence, and dedication to regional development through research, student engagement, and community outreach in the fields of Engineering, Science (Pure and Applied), and Technology (EST). 

Eligibility Criteria

• The applicant should be a life member of the Association

• The applicant should be a citizen of Sri Lanka or hold a permanent residency visa for Sri Lanka for at least 10 years prior to the award being granted.

• The applicant is either employed within the Northern Province, Sri Lanka, or may have retired in the past. If the candidate is retired, he/she must have served in the Northern Province actively for a minimum of ten years before his/her retirement.

• The applicants who have previously been awarded the “PAT Memorial Gold Medal” are not eligible to apply.

• The applicant should have a record of notable achievements in the EST field in the Northern Province

• The applicant should have carried out his/her professional duties honestly, competently, ethically, and with unwavering commitment to the public and the profession.

• The applicant should have contributed to, meeting the needs of society and people in the Northern Province.

• The applicant should have contributed to the economic and sustainable development of Sri Lanka.

• The applicant should use innovative methods or ideas and smart techniques in their projects or work.

• The applicant has demonstrated that their work has made a significant difference and brought about positive change in the development of the Northern Province.

• The applicant should have never been found guilty of any offence either in employment or otherwise.

Application Deadline: January 31, 2026 

How to Apply: Based on the application criteria (Application criteria) you are required to prepare the applications and submit them to the General Secretary via email before the deadline.
