2021 will see the EU ban 'some' single use plastics but we'd like to promote the campaign to make a big difference now. Consumer convenience has created a thriving drinks business and driven this waste problem to literally dizzying heights.
Within Johnstown we now have several outlets offering take out drinks and when you include Navan there's considerably more.

We're asking all outlets to offer customers reusable takeaway cups. Some already encourage you to bring your own and some will offer a discount if you do.

To find some practical examples to buy we visited our local Smith's SuperValu who had 3 brands of environmentally responsible takeaway coffee cups: a metal canister, a cork cup and one made from bamboo.

Those made of a biodegradable material should never see landfill and may have a more sustainably responsible source whist those with better recyclable qualities delay the inevitable.

These are used purely as examples. Other suitable brands are available elsewhere and we gain no benefit from illustrating these.
Perhaps the real motivating driving force will be for Society to make it 'Cool' to be seen using Reusable Cups and socially unacceptable either not to bring your own or not to be offered one.
