August saw the start of a new sports media site and we review where Darren Donoghue our local freelance sports journalist has been.

These are a few highlights and more available on Facebook and YouTube.
We were in Pairc Tailteann at the start of September to cover the Meath AFL Division 1 and Division 3 finals.

In the Division 3 final Meath hill took on Bective in what was a really entertaining game. Meath Hill defeated bective, with Meath Hill converting a last minute penalty to ensure a one point win over Bective.

In the Division 1 final Skryne took on Gaeil Colmcille as both had fine form coming into this game. Skryne won by 3 points and produced a brilliant team performance. That win sent out a message to other teams, that Skryne mean business this year and they will be around at the business end of the season.

On the 8th of august the nefl league got underway and we were at Powederly Park to cover the game between Torro Utd and Parkvilla. This game attracted a big crowd, as this was parkvillas first game in the NEFL. The game itself was lively affair and the truth be told it could have been a 5-5 draw at half time, but this was not to be as both teams missed plenty of chances in the first half. Torro took the lead on the 35 th minute when Andy Tolan rose highest to head home an Evan Bird corner to make it 1-0 to Torro Utd at half time.

This game attracted a big crowd, as this was parkvillas first game in the NEFL. Parkvilla were putting pressure on torro’s defense and they got a late equalising goal in the 89 th minute when Pearse Challenger fired home from close range after a goal mouth scramble. But there was late drama as torro won a free in the 95th minute and up stepped Steven Gavin to fire home a low driven shot to the back of the parkvilla net. The home crowd went wild and Torro held on to claim a well deserved 3 points.

We were in Paddy O Brien Park last Thursday to watch the final round game of the Meath GAA Intermediate Football Championship between Trim and Nobber. Trim were already through to the knock out stages, while Nobber needed to win and hope other results went there way to make it through to the knockout stages. Nobber went on to win the game by 5 points, but it was not enough to see them through to the knockout round as St. Michaels went through to the knockout stages on score difference.

This €10 fee caused a reaction on our Facebook page as some people felt that the admission price was ridiculous, while others felt that the €10 was a fair price to charge as the facilities on show were excellent. With that price you got a printed programme as well.
