What is up with "THE" Jay Wing?

My Name is Jay Wing.

Why did I feel the need to add "The" to the front of my domain name? There's a very large company in the U.K. & Australia called Jay Wing, and since they own jaywing.com, I had to settle for adding "the" to the domain. (I'm really not THAT vain).

The purpose of this site is to direct potential school Administrators to get a more in-depth look at my education and capabilities, beyond merely looking up my California Teaching Credentials.

This included updating my Résumé, simplifying it for two reasons: 1.) As a Graphic Designer, I was always taught to keep my résumé to a single page, (although I added another page to this pdf) and 2.) much of the detailed information from my education and work history can be found on the Links page of this site.

I added the "Evidence" page on May 2, as a vehicle for organizing the digital content I've created since COVID altered the delivery of instruction since March 2020.

My Portfolio page is a Google Slide show of my electronic Educational Portfolio, from my student teaching in 2009. The Videos page has a sampling of recent lessons I've created on drawing (traditional Art) and Digital Art video instructions.

I've taken many courses to increase my skills at online and blended learning, which became poignant when the schools closed, due to the pandemic, resulting in the paradigm shift to Distance Learning.

I've been using technology since 1981, when my dad brought home an IBM XT computer, and am versed in both Windows and Macintosh systems.

Rather than go into great detail of all my experiences, the Links page lists many of the websites I've created for the various teaching positions, (and a few freelance Cartooning and Graphic Design businesses and projects) I've made through the years.

This is the process I used prior to my introduction to Google Classroom in 2016, developing websites to aid students in lessons that I taught in the various schools where I was employed. Each link includes a brief explanation of which school or project it represents.

A few photos from my 2020 summer excursion.

Since I earned tenure 5 years ago, I began to travel across the country during the summer break. As I come from a large family, including my extended family and friends, from living on military bases all over the world as an Army brat, I have the opportunity to visit them all, as I drive coast-to-coast. Here are a few snapshots from my "Summer 2020 Tour," including the month of July, in Williamsburg, Virginia, with my daughter and her husband.

I never miss an opportunity to teach drawing. My grand-nephew, however is totally engaged on his own.

Clowning around with my older sister at a gas station half-way between Gila Bend and Yuma, Arizona. I was heading east to Tucson, to mom & dad's, and she was heading west back to San Diego.

Thanks to COVID-19 and distance-learning, I was blessed to able to spend dad's final three months, helping mom with his care. He passed away on June 27th, (2 days before my 61st birthday), the day after I arrived in Virginia.

All the photos on this site were taken by me, or a family member with my cell phone.

For the final 3 months of the 2019-20 school year, I packed up and moved (I thought, temporarily), to Tucson, Arizona, to help my mom with dad. I taught my students using some of the techniques I knew of Distance Learning. I encountered so many creatures on my walks every morning, that I started taking videos of them. This one was three different videos, edited together and adding titles using iMovie on my iPad. I jokingly calling it, "Bub's Nature Vids," posting several on Facebook from April through June.
