The Janissary Barracks Re-enactment Group operates under the values of Fairness, Equality, and Respect for self and others. Members are expected to let these values guide their actions and choices when representing the Janissary Barracks.
The aims of the Janissary Barracks Re-enactment Group are to:
Anyone at all! We have both men and women in our ranks, and the Janissary Barracks welcomes everyone who would like to know about the medieval Ottoman Empire, or would like to take place in its activities. We welcome archers, wrestlers, musicians, dancers, cooks and chefs, academics, blacksmiths and tradespeople, and aspiring warriors of all types! The Janissary Barracks meets and trains each week at Caboolture, QLD with some members taking additional training privately.
Contact the Barracks, and let us know you would like to become a Janissary. Be sure to tell us some interesting things about yourself, and if you have any specialised skills such as cooking or blacksmithing. From there we can make a day to attend a group training session and see if it's something you want to keep doing.
All new and aspiring members are required to attend a minimum number of group sessions before they can be inducted as a full Janissary. This allows for new recruits to learn the necessary skills and gives them the opportunity to show how they apply the group values.
If you have other questions, or would like more information, visit the FAQs or contact us to discuss your future with the Janissary Barracks!
