Housed in one of the few surviving original buildings following the fire that ravaged the early town of Katarina, the Anchor's Luck is frequented by sailors and travelers, but has its share of old timers who whittle away hours playing low stakes card games when the morality police is not looking. The Cathedral of Katarina is the headquarters of the authorized faith of Sezja, and home to the Cardinal and his men. Catering to clothes buyers on a budget!
Located in Low Town, this cozy basement space overflows with pre-loved garments perfect for salty seafarers and aspiring adventurers. Here, stories hang in the air as thick as the scent of salt and leather.
A sailor's cobbler in Low Town
The Drowned Sailor's Stitches is a weathered and worn cobbler's store nestled in Low Town, on the street behind the Anchor's Luck. The exterior of the shop bears the scars of years battling the salty sea air, with peeling paint and weather-beaten wooden panels that groan in protest with each passing gust of wind. The shop sign, once vibrant and welcoming, now hangs by a rusty chain, swinging precariously as if caught in a perpetual storm.
Upon entering, the dim lighting reveals a space cluttered with an assortment of tools, leather scraps, and dusty cobwebs. The air is thick with the scent of aged leather, a pungent aroma that hints at the countless pairs of shoes that have found their way to the skilled hands of the cobbler. The wooden floor creaks underfoot, adding a symphony of sounds to the atmosphere that seems to echo the tales of the countless sailors who have passed through the doors of the Drowned Sailor's Stitches.
Behind a weathered counter, the cobbler, a grizzled and experienced artisan named Orest, stands hunched over his workbench. His calloused hands move with a practiced grace, navigating the intricate dance of needles, threads, and patches. The walls are adorned with faded maritime maps, weathered sailing flags, and photographs of ships that have long since sailed into the horizon.
Orest's clientele consists mainly of local sailors, each with a unique story etched into the soles of their worn-out boots. The shelves are lined with an assortment of footwear – from sturdy sea boots to worn-out deck shoes, each pair telling a tale of adventures on the high seas. Orest takes pride in his ability to breathe new life into these well-traveled shoes, mending them with a skill that comes from years of experience and an understanding of the hardships faced by those who brave the open ocean.
Despite its rundown appearance, the Drowned Sailor's Stitches holds a certain charm, a rugged authenticity that draws sailors from near and far. It's a place where tales of the sea intertwine with the artistry of craftsmanship, and where the creaking floorboards echo the footsteps of those whose journeys have left indelible marks on the soles of their shoes.
