Sir Dmytro Anton is the current owner and publisher of the Katarina Chronicle.

Anya, missing sister

Anya is Dukha's older sister. They moved into one of the many attic spaces in the Legendary following the deaths of their parents, leaving them orphans. Anya left the Legendary one night about 18 months ago to meet someone, and she never returned, leaving Dukha alone. Most interested in political intrigues, Anya kept a journal where she noted much information about the rich and powerful who attended plays. Anya was systematically spying on the Cardinal, and noted everything that he said at every performance he attended for the four years before her disappearance. 

Artem, artificer

Artem is an artificer who works for Stal Steel Concern, the main industrial concern on Katarina. Artem is renowned for building pumpkin sized bombs that project sonic energy in a specific path, a process very useful in mining to minimize the risk of a collapse or an unplanned explosion. Marigold suspects he might be responsible for the device that destroyed Khoroshim.

Lady Bodashka, philanthropist

Lady Bodashka, who died in the terrorist attack on Khoroshim on Tuesday, June 14,  was a renowned noblewoman with a passion for the arts. She was a talented painter and a patron of various artistic endeavors, known for her extravagant soirees and cultural gatherings primarily held at the Serenity Center. She dedicated much of her life to promoting local artists and cultural enrichment on the island of KatarinaLady Bodashka was one of the wealthiest nobles in Katarina, possessing a vast estate, including a grand manor and Frostbloom, the only vineyard on the island. With her wealth estimated to be in excess of 10,000 gold crowns, Lady Bodashka had established several scholarships for talented up and coming young artists. She was also a prominent advocate for women's participation and education in the arts.

Cardinal Feorode

Feodore is the Cardinal of Katarina. Arriving on the island three years ago a royal writ of the Sezjain Court establishing religious law over the island, the Cardinal has earned the dislike of Archduke Maksimillian III. He and his men have implemented a morality police that patrols the streets of Katarina to maintain the moral order. The Cardinal has been insidiously undermining the authority of the Archduke and seems bent on reforming Katarina to eliminate its vibrant artistic community. Aside from chasing lawbreakers and supervising the moral fiber of Katarina, the Cardinal is actively investigating a group that identifies itself through the symbol of an oak leaf.

Dima, Captain of the Guard

Dima, a captain in service of the Archduke, runs one of the night patrols on Katarina. A strongly built and tall fellow in his mid thirties, Dima runs an efficient patrol and has little tolerance for the depradations conducted by the Cardinal's men. Trusted by the  Archduke, Dima has recently been assigned as escort to Verushka following the bombing at Khoroshim.

Dukha, orphan

Dukha is a twelve-year old girl who haunts the Legendary. She and her sister Anya moved into a secret crawl space on the fifth floor of the theater, and they lived there for over five years before Anya left one night and went missing. In the last 18 months, Dukha, has stolen items around the theater, and she has clothed several mannequins with the results of her thefts. She knows all of the theater's secret passages, including crawlspaces underneath the private loges of both the Archduke and the Cardinal. Mon discovered her hiding space, and left her a note telling her he was his fairy godparent and he could help her if she needed assistance. Dukha works disguised as a page boy for the Legendary, generally working from evening to early morning, before retiring home and writing in her journal, which she keeps dutifully. Mon has recently suggested to the Marquess of Sidorov that she should adopt Dukha as her heir.

Dusana, prop designer

Dusana is a famous props designer who oversees the props department at the Legendary. Born into a tight-knit halfling community, Dusana's early years were marked by a strong sense of curiosity and an innate talent for creating intricate and imaginative props. He pursued this passion with unwavering dedication, honing his skills in designing and crafting props for various mediums, before finally gaining recognition for his exceptional work at the Grand Royal Opera during the production of the opera Heroic Nights by the famous Sezjan composer Lesya, which explores the world of Sezjan mythology and folklore. Known for his attention to detail and the ability to bring fantastical worlds to life through his props, Dusana secured the coveted spot of prop master at the Legendary fourteen years ago. His work continues to receive critical acclaim, including awards and accolades. He also also mentors aspiring prop designers, including Marigold Handthorn, sharing his knowledge and expertise to inspire the next generation of talent.

Gwen, Brannamarth

Brannamarth Gwend is one of the costume designers for the Legendary. She works under Oskana's supervision. She is one of the adventuring characters in the Legendary Campaign.

Handthorn, Marigold

Marigold Handthorn is a successful props designer who works at the Legendary under Dusana's supervision.  She is one of the adventuring characters in the Legendary Campaign.

Herald, a cad actor at the Legendary

Herald is a mid-tier actor who works at the Legendary, and he hopes to one day break it big. Upon meeting Mon quickly formed the opinion that Herald was either a dimwit who is wholly focused on himself, or he was a deviously clever individual who hid behind a veneer of silliness. A quick look at the clothes spread all over the furniture and floor of Herald's room, the empty bottles of wine piled in a corner, and the general messiness of the place convinced Mon that it was probably the former. 

Ivan, bartender 

Ivan is a balding middle-age human who owns the Anchor's Luck, a tavern in Low Town frequented by Captain Popov and his friends.

Jeronim, maître d'

Jeronim is the Maître D' at Khoroshim. A tall and thin bald man, Jeronim appears aloof but has a good heart. The Marquess of Sidorov considers him a friend.

Joseph, accounting at the Legendary

Joseph works in accounting at the Legendary, but his true love is designing clothes.

Kisa, first actress

Kisa is the lead female star of the First Crew. She earned her position following an amazing performance in Father Frost Comes to Town, and has served in her position for over two years. Kisa suspects that Luba wants to replace her. Mon once read in Dukha's journal that though Ulan and Kisa are always looking like they get along swimmingly in public, they hate each other with a passion privately.

Sir Krystiyan, military leader

Sir Krystiyan, who died in the terrorist attack on Khoroshim on Tuesday, June 14, was a respected military leader and a loyal advisor to Archduke Maksimillian III. He served in various military campaigns on Sezja’s borders, displaying remarkable tactical acumen and unwavering dedication to the defense of the realm. He was known for his chivalry and code of honor, and was awarded the title of Grand Commander for his military achievements. Due to particularly successful investments in the steel and shipping industries, Sir Krystiyan’s wealth is estimated at 15,000 gold crowns.

Lafoy, Pirate Captain

Lafoy is a famous Sezjian pirate rumored to have plied his trade around the island of Katarina. About a decade ago, Lafoy is rumored to have stolen a gold cross in a daring raid on a mainland cathedral run by Cardinal Feodore. When not conducting acts of piracy, Captain Lafoy and his crew have occupied an ancient dwarven forge once belonging to the Firebreather Clan.

Lena, marketing at the Legendary

Lena is a halfling who works in the marketing department of the Legendary. She is Marigold's roommate.

Luba, second actress at the Legendary

Luba is the lead female star of the Second Crew at the Legendary. She aspires to take over Kisa's role as the Legendary's most famous actress. Luba first spotted Mon during his unforgettable performance as Brother Gerald in the production of The Goblin and the Turtle Soup at the Fantastic. Having been spotted spending time with Mon in a coffee house, rumors now circulate that the two of them might be an item, much to Vadim's consternation. Luba spent a few traumatic nights in the Cathedral's jail, where she was interrogated by the Cardinal about oak leaves. She was rescued by Sir Gregory Tsaplin's laywer, Sir Matviy. Luba has a cat named Bahzen, and she's worried that Yurchik will do anything to get rid of her.

Maria, secretary

Maria, a human female about 60 years of age, is Sir Matviy's secretary.

Sir Matviy, solicitor

Sir Matviy, an old human man of over eighty, is Sir Gregory Tsaplin's solicitor. His offices are located two streets north and three streets east of the Legendary, on the second floor of an ornate building. His secretary, Maria, runs the front of the office, screens his calls, and is otherwise very protective of him.

Matviyko, understudy at the Legendary

Matviyko is Mon's new understudy following the beginning of General Toptigin Cheats Death. He replaced Andriy. A lanky youth that closely resembles Mon, Matviyko has always wanted to be an actor. Matviyko was arrested by the Cardinal's men following the bombing of the Khoroshim after he was denounced by Mon.

Nastasia, coffee shop owner

Nastasia, a human female about 50 years of age, is the owner of the Warm Whistle, and is a confidante of Luba.

Olehiv, butler to the Marquess of Sidorov

Olehiv is the Marquess of Sidorov's butler. He has been in the Sidorov's service since the Marquess was a toddler and has worked selflessly to ensure that the Marquess's excesses and overenthusiastic schemes do not bring sudden ruin to the Sidorov family name.

Sir Oleskiy, shipping magnate

Sir Oleksiy, who died in the terrorist attack on Khoroshim on Tuesday, June 14, was a highly respected and enterprising noble known for his remarkable success in the shipping and trade industry. He hailed from a family with a long history of maritime expertise on Katarina, and he dedicated his life to expanding the family's business legacy. Sir Oleksiy transformed SteelWave Maritime, the family company based on Katarina Island, into the largest and most prosperous maritime trading enterprise in the Kingdom of Sezja . Under his leadership, the company established trade routes to distant lands, importing exotic goods and fostering diplomatic relations with foreign nations. Sir Oleksiy’s family estate included a palatial mansion overlooking the fjord, a fleet of opulent merchant vessels, and an extensive network of warehouses and trading posts in Sezja and Katarina. SteelWave Maritime was is valued at seven million gold crowns on the Sezja Stock Exchange. Sir Oleksiy’s philanthropic efforts also included funding the construction of a local orphanage, demonstrating his commitment to the welfare of the less fortunate.

Ony, long suffering manservant

Ony is Sir Gregory Tsaplin's long-suffering manservant. He has served Sir Gregory for the better of forty years.

Orest, cobbler and enchanter

Orest, a taciturn dwarf, is a cobbler by trade and an enchanter by interest. He owns a shop called the Drowned Sailor's Stitches, which is located one street behind the Anchor's Luck. Orest fixes sailors' boots and gear real cheap. Hes also known as an skilled enchanter and caters to a selective and secretive clientele.

Oskana, costumer par excellence

Oskana is a middle-aged human woman who serves as the head designer for the Legendary. Her costumes are renowned, and she has created truly amazing outfits that have achieved iconic status.

Pavel, head carpenter, Legendary

Pavel is the head carpenter for the Legendary. Known as much for his bad jokes as for his legendary appetite, Pavel stands 6 feet tall and his arms are twice the size of the average human's thigh. Strong and hard working, Pavel seems to know everyone and everything that is happening around the theater.

Popov, Ilich, old captain

Captain Ilich Popov is an old fisherman and fourth generation resident of Katarina. Over eighty, he usually hangs out with his friends Yevheniy, Vasyl, and Bohdan at a tavern on the waterfront called the Anchor's LuckCaptain Popov enjoys a good game of low stakes cards and a few drinks, but his purse is usually light enough to prevent him from thoroughly enjoying the evening. He knows all of the coves around the island, and has spent a lifetime fishing on his old boat, the Tall Tale. Almost blind, Mon removed this affliction and restored his eyesight, and Captain Popov doesn't know how to thank him. A fan of the theater, Mon often gets him free tickets to less attended performances at the Legendary.

Rurik, King Stanislas II, ruler of Sezja

King Stanislas Rurik II is the current ruler of Sezja. King Stanislas is the fifth member of the Rurik noble family to rule over Sezja. His visit to Katarina is the first by a Sezjan ruler.

Sir Sergeii, renowned entertainer

Sir Sergeii is a world-renowned baritone who happens to be first cousin to the King of Sezja. He has toured extensively through Sezja and beyond, but this is his first trip to Katarina. Although he performs three unforgettable nights, his primary mission was to analyze the situation on the ground and report his observations to the King.

Sidorov, Zoya, Marquess

Zoya Sidorov, Marquess of Sidorov, is a rich landowner known for her extravagant entertaining parties and her propensity for monopolizing the conversation. The Marquess of Sidorov is always on the lookout for new and exciting elements she can add to her repertoire, and she especially loves pretty clothes. She is best friends with Lady Sirenko, and trusts her butler, Olehiv, implicitly.

Sirenko, Lady Fayina

Sirenko, Lady Fayina, is the Marquess of Sidorov's best friend. The two women met as children when they both received private lessons from a well-known tutor. The two of them have been inseparable ever since, and rumors circulate that they may be more than friends. Lady Sirenko never married, and she continues to administer her family shipping concern with skill.

Stal, Sir Paul, richest man on Katarina

A known recluse, Sir Paul Stal, heir to House Stal's vast fortunes, has not left his Verdant Estate in over 13 years. An enigmatic figure who stands as the undisputed titan of wealth on the island of Katarina, Sir Paul Stalis a man veiled in mystery and intrigue. Born under unknown circumstances, his early years remain a well-guarded secret, with only whispers and speculations circulating about his youth back in Sezja.

At the age of 21, Sir Paul Stal arrived on the shores of Katarina, a stranger whose enigmatic past seemed to have been left on some distant horizon. He was acknolwedged as Sir Paul Stal's heir and worked closely with Sir Dmitri Stal, the patriach at the time, for six years before Sir Dmitri Stal announced his retirement and return to the mainland. Sir Paul Stal brought an aura of quiet sophistication and an uncanny ability to navigate the intricacies of commerce and trade on Katarina

For over thirteen years, the wealthiest man on the island has not set foot beyond the confines of his lavish Verdant Estate, a fortress of opulence and seclusion. The reasons behind this self-imposed isolation are a subject of much speculation, giving rise to a plethora of myths and legends about the man who rules from the shadows.

Sir Paul's estate, a living testament to his affluence, is a sprawling haven of greenery and architectural marvels. It is said that within the emerald-hued walls of Verdant Estate, Sir Paul Stal orchestrates the economic tapestry of Katarina, his influence extending far beyond the boundaries of his secluded abode.

While the island thrives under the economic prowess of House Stal, the man himself remains an elusive figurehead. Whispers of a tragic past, political machinations, and even magical dealings have been woven into the tapestry of Sir Paul Stal's biography, creating an aura of both fascination and trepidation among the island's inhabitants.

Svetozars, Maksimillian III, Archduke of Katarina

Archduke Maksimillian III is the current ruler of the Island of Katarina. He has a beautiful wife, Yeva, and two daughters, Verushka, 17, and Yula, 10. Over the last one hundred years, the Svetozars have managed the island expertly, extracting resources, generating wealth, and ensuring that this wealth was shared equitably with most of the island's inhabitants. This has created a surprisingly open society with a vibrant cultural scene. Over 45,000 people now live on the island of Katarina, with two thirds of them residing in the capital city of the same name. Archduke Maxsimillian has inherited his family's talent for business and management, and he has continued to increase the island's wealth and spread its culture beyond its border. An active shipping industry has grown to export Kat steel and its derived products, and ship building soon followed, diversifying the island's economy further. 

Svetozars, Verushka, oldest princess

Verushka is Archduke Maxsimillian's eldest daughter. At 17, she has strong views about the politics of Katarina and its social scene. A studious student of history, Verushka always carries a book with her. She was startled when she noticed that Mon's understudy Matviyko had joined the crew of the Legendary.

Svetozars, Yula, youngest princess

Yula is Archduke Maxsimillian's youngest daughter. At nearly 13, she loves riding her horse and exploring the island. A budding outdoors girl, Yula often skips her lessons to play outside the Katarina Palace.

Tarasenko, one of the Cardinal's Men

Tarasenko is one of the Cardinal's men. He attempted to steal the Marquess's gold necklace following an explosion at Khoroshim, but was discovered by Mon who retrieved the item from the guard's pocket. Mon also charmed him, and he makes a statement to Tarasenko a man closely resembling Matviyko hurling something in the window, and that the man seemed intent on committing an assassination, but of whom, he wasn't sure.

Tsaplin, Sir Gregory

Sir Gregory Tsaplin, is the owner of the Legendary theater on the island of Katarina. His manservant, Ony, goes everywhere he goes. A lover of good food and parties, and known as a gregarious, Sir Gregory Tsaplin always attends the opening night of every performance, and he enjoys taking the stage to talk to the audience about the play they are about to see. Though many find his speeches tedious, some appreciate that he dedicates each opening night to his wonderful crew, which help make the Legendary the best theatre on Katarina. Sir Gregory Tsaplin employs many the services of many people, including his solicitor, Sir Matviy

Ulan, first actor

Ulan is the first lead actor at the Legendary, a role he has served for over seven years and 79 distinct plays. His talented acting and his incredible transformative abilities hint at a darker past. Rumors that Ulan and Sir Gregory Tsaplin share a connection beyond the walls of the theatre suggest that this is why Ulan has remained in this role longer than anyone else. Ulan and Vadim were overheard by Mon discussing Luba, and each of them expressed their loathing for the actress. Mon once read in Dukha's journal that though Ulan and Kisa are always looking like they get along swimmingly in public, they hate each other with a passion privately.

Vadim, second actor at the Legendary

Vadim is the second lead actor at the Legendary. A human of average height, Vadim's impressive acting range has ensured a rapid climb nearly to the top, but rumors abound that Ulan's personal connection with Sir Gregory Tsaplin will prevent Vadim from ever reaching the top billing. Unless, of course, an incident prevented Ulan from continuing on.... Vadim and Ulan were overheard by Mon discussing Luba, and each of them expressed their loathing for the actress.

Lord Vasyl, renowned scholar

Lord Vasyl, who died in the terrorist attack on Khoroshim on Tuesday, June 14, was a scholar, philosopher, and inventor. He was a brilliant mind known for his contributions to various fields of knowledge, but particularly for his designs in metallurgy processes, including his design for the Forge of Elemental Fusion, a masterpiece of metallurgical magic that consists of an intricate network of enchanted runes, complex machinery, and a central furnace powered by a bound fire elemental. Developed for the Stal Steel Concern, the forge is said to be able to meld different metals together with remarkable ease and precision. His library was renowned for its vast collection of rare texts and manuscripts. He was a prominent advocate for the spread of knowledge. Lord Vasyl’s family estate included an impressive library, observatory, and alchemical laboratory. His wealth was estimated at 8,000 gold crowns.

Yurchik, theatre director

Yurchik is the theater manager of the Legendary and is responsible for daily operations as well as long-term planning. He is not a fan of Luba, and has attempted multiple times to get rid of the actress.

Zoryany, loyal friend and confident

Zoryany does not remember much from her previous existence. She was rescued over twenty years ago from the hands of a vicious and cold-blooded scientist by Sir Paul Stal, and has loyally worked for him loyally ever since. Now a friend more than a servant, Zoryany is a confident and capable administrator who ensures that Sir Paul remains organized. She's also the only other resident of Verdant Estate.
