Southwestern Assemblies of God University has been around since 1927. That's almost 100 years! A lot changes in almost 100 years, so we've made of conglomeration of past SAGU snapshots . Enjoy!
We would be remiss if we did not include the original Judah the Lion. In 1958, the Vice President George Brazell discovered a lion cub being used as a gimmick for an Oklahoma automobile company. He decided that the school needed this cub, and someone agreed with him enough to donate the necessary funds to purchase the cub. The school eventually had to send Judah elsewhere when he grew up, but the spirit of Judah has been with us ever since.

An unexpected Texas snowfall contributed to the building of this snowman in 1942. We're glad to see students had the same idea then as they do now when it comes to snow.
We're not entirely sure when this picture was taken, who it's of, or even what exactly this young man is trying to accomplish, but it does serve as a reminder that before the school was renamed in 1994, SAGU was SAGC, Southwestern Assemblies of God College.
Here we have shot of the Harvesters all the way back in 1976 when it was significantly larger and composed of both men and women. We're thankful for today's SAGU Harvesters who keep the tradition alive.
Did you know SAGU used to have its own airstrip? Not only that, but we had our own flight club (rule #1: don't talk about flight club). The government had gotten permission from the school to build an airstrip for World War II. Before getting shut down in the 1960s, the school continued to use it and even had its own flight school available to students. The airstrip was eventually shut down due to noise complaints from neighbors.
SAGU students produced pews and other furniture to assist with the high costs that arose from WWII. They also had a print shop for books, and 85 acres of farm land. In addition to providing jobs for students, the products they produced were both sold for profit and used by the school as resources. The whole plan was brought about by President Collins.
Hmm. Not a bad plan for maintaining the peace of a dorm! Kudos to the 1967 RA who thought this one up.
SAGU's 1980 cheer squad. Love the overalls.
Our basketball team has sure come a long ways! These players from 1976 would be proud to see how our team has performed throughout the years. Though they might be disappointed in the lack of hair volume...
Oh my, why did our band ever stop wearing this uniform? It looks both economic and comfortable. We need to start a petition to bring back the overalls!
I'm loving the vibes coming from this group of students in 1994. Girls (and their one guy friend) just want to have fun!
Dorm life back in 1998. From the looks of it, this dorm room is probably in Kendrick.
