The monster is a Wendigo but it's something more between a traditional and the more well known type of Wendigo, references below.

As though the traditional one has adapted to look more like the more well-known one to become more recognizable and invoke more fear.

When wendigo are created it’s out of desperation to survive however this is not the case with this character.

When the windigo was human he was a cannibalistic serial killer that war a deer's skull to invoke fear in his victims and to be seen as a monster.

As he became more monstrous the he grew onto the skull. Usfing his flash to the Bone of the skull loosening any straps that may have kept it in place at one point or another.

Because the way he was created he retained some basic knowledge making it less animalistic then the more well-known windigo. Giving him the ability to use tools and play with his food.
