That's right, we have finally reached the Pencil article.

As many of you could have probably guessed, and that I've shown around on the rest of the site. Pencil is hands down, without a doubt, my absolute favourite character to ever have been in an object show. Since the very beginning Pencil has been my favourite character, I rooted for her to win, and when she was announced to be in season two, I could not be more exited. There were a lot of reasons why I became a fan of Pencil, that's why I made this article. But I would like to start by saying she has been one of the best examples of how to write a Object Show character.

Don't believe me? She's arguably one of the most complex characters the show ever had.

Most personalties usually stay in very rigid boxes, defined by a few characterisitics. Often they can be so boiled down, you can summarize their existance in one word.

But this isn't really the case for Pencil.

• She's neither a hero nor villain

• She isn't chaotic or lawful

• She broke the Meyers Briggs Personality test

The point I'm trying to make is she's Pencil. There's no other way to describe her.

And that level of complexity, her range of interest makes her such an endearing contestant to watch. Sometimes she acts villainous, but she will do it for a heroic thing. Sometimes she will hate a character, other times she is giving them a chance and advice. All of these quirks, interests, character, and class synthesize to create my favourite personality in Object show history.

And she did it without even being the OC. To somehow be the most important character and not be the OC is a testament to how well of a character she is.

It's so hard to write a summary about a contestant which is so hard to define.

And when I started putting together lists of things I wanted to discuss about Pencil, I realized there was a bit of a problem, where every moment she was on screen was entertaining, but there was a lack of big moments that were laugh out loud that featured her. There was so much I would have loved to put into the countdown, but then this countdown would be 50% Pencil. So I decided I would give her a character entry, and put all of her little moments into one article.

Remy's 17 funny things about Pencil

1. She's a challenge beast.

This might be a surprise to some, and a completely obvious thing to others.

But to those who don't know, Pencil was an absolute challenge beast in the department of characters. Just look at her resume of challenge wins.

Her challenge proficency doesn't just stop at there. Pencil also has two technical wins.

They're technical since for most of the premerge Win Tokens were distributed which count as challenge superieority, and they were left out for certain episodes. But in this case, you have to look and notice which contestant had the best performance to place hypothetical win tokens.

*I'm saying she ran the fastest since she is the only runner to have lapped the other team.

*Similar to how Pin got a Win Token for ripping the ribbon, Pencil gets a win token for being the one to press the button first.

And so that is a summary of the complete challenge domination Pencil had performed, winning 6 total challenges when she competed in a total of 19. Which for your information, is a absolutley massive ratio compared to the others.

Athough everyone remembers Bubble's immunity run at the very end of season 1, and although it's impressive, Pencil also was competing against a larger pool of contestants compared to Bubble when she won her immunities.

2. She started her own religion.

This is a Blink and you miss it moment that happened in the show.

It happend in the first episode of IDFB.

Wait, go back.

Did you catch that?

There's a religion called Pencilanity. And who do you think started it?

3. The time she became a hallucination.

This is another small moment that everyone and their best friend was begging I put on the countdown. I didn't think it warranted any attention because it's such a small insignifigant moment.

It's basically Pencil messing with one of the other characters.

4. Pencilisms.

Now I may be the very first to say this, but Pencil has a very distinct way of talking.

It's not in the typical Snowball-esque fashion of yelling random things in a squeaky voice. Pencil's ways of talking are much more entertaining for the person who's paying close attention to them. Because there's one thing that makes Pencil so entertaining is all of the weird, whacky and distinct ways of phrasing subjects.

It's not awkward and unintentional like Flower. Pencil's speech patterns are 100% intentional, and are much sublter.

Like she has a weird obsession with alliteration and repetition.

Also I wasn't lying when I said she used infrequent alliteration.

She also says this stuff.

Truly a poet.

Oh, and there was her weird chant she would keep yelling at any opportunity...

There was the time she spoke like an aristocrat.

Or the time she spoke like a toddler.

There was the time she tried to sound smart by finding a random word in the dictionary.

Or the time she failed to understand plural tenses.

Finally we get to the best part about this part of the article. I get to list all the nicknames Pencil gives to the other contestants.

5. Her voice.

That's right, we're talking about it. Pencil has THAT VOICE.

If you've seen one episode of BFDI, you know exactly what I mean when I say Pencil has THAT VOICE.

You know, that over the top whiny, nazally, somehow gravelly pitch.

All somehow wrapped in a Pacific Northwest accent.

Okay now that I talked about her voice, can I talk about THAT SCREAM?

It's so freaking indescribable.

[Cheap potshot reference incoming]

6. She's a picky dier.

I'll let the scene explain itself.

7. Her random obsession with fuzzy things.

I'm not gonna keep this long. She likes fuzzy things, and that's just about it.

8. Being the Good Twin.

Lets say in this hypothetical Pencil had a friend.

And lets call this hypothetical friend Dolly Smith.

And lets say in this very hypothetical situation that Dolly Smith is a very dangerous person. And this Dolly Smith has commited numerous atrocities.

Dolly Smith has once violated someone.

Dolly Smith has also committed Arson.

Dolly Smith has also engaged in defamation of currency.

Dolly Smith has also performed human experimentation.

Dolly Smith currently has over 12 restraining orders, and is banned in 64 countries.

Dolly Smith is currently on the run, any information to the whereabouts to her location are incredibly valuable.

And in this hypothetical situation, Pencil is Dolly Smith's best friend. The reason for this?

But who is next to her the whole time, playing the devil's advocate to the devil?

9. Pencil's undying hate for Ice Cube.

I implore you as fans of BFDI to find a single scene where Pencil isn't shitting on Ice Cube.

Pencil's relationship with Ice Cube has always been uncomplicated, with a few ups and downs. But ultimately it's a story of despair, with no happy ending.

And let the bad mouthing begin

At first the two still don't interact together. But then comes the fateful moment.

Things are going great until Leafy arrives.

And that's the end of the storyline. Something I love about it is that there's no resolution whatsoever, they don't even really talk to each other in their last episode. So that was the very last conversation the two had, and it's honestly hilarious to ponder how it happened.

A completely useless story about Ice Cube being hated, being less hated, and then being hated again with no resolution is a short but awesome storyline.

Also I am neglecting BFDIA in this example because it wasn't planned for them to return in the ending of BFDI.

10. The Alliance.

It's time to talk about the alliance. One of the greatest circles of friends that BFDI ever had.

*Although it is important to note that an alliance in a show about likability is like the most useless thing ever.

But it gave the group of friends a name, which is part of the reason why they're so iconic.

Other things that made them an iconic group are:

• They were all girls

• They comprised distinct personalities

• They were all underdogs

• They all made it to the merge

• Ice Cube was part of it

Another fun part were all the weird policies they had.

Then FREESMART came along, and basically became the renovated alliance. Without question, they were the most popular team in BFDIA. It wasn't even close, I know a lot of you wanted me to write something about them. But they have too many little moments that I couldn't ever be able to cover. Some of the things to remember the team by are:

• The Canyon jump

• Seceding from team NO NAME

• The Leg Powered recovery center

• The peanut conversation

Speaking of her alliance and team.

11. She's a team player.

One of the most endering parts about Pencil is how she is such a team player.

Even as far back as BFDI 2, we get to see some of Pencil's team spirit in one of my favourite scenes the show had.

You see what she did there? She put aside all her emotions and hate for Spongy so that the team could win the challenge together.

Or what about the time she put her own feelings aside to keep Snowball so the team would have a better chance of winning.

That's called teamwork.

12. Holding a random two-year grudge on Rocky.

This is another blink-and-you-miss-it moment. It really only lasts a few seconds. But for some background...

And then two years later.

Completely out of nowhere.

Also I'd be remissed if I didn't mention Pencil managed to kick a rock all the way down a mountain into a fish's mouth.

13. SUPERFANS!

This might be a very huge stretch, but I'm committing to it for the joke.

Pencil is actually a superfan of the game. Maybe not even a superfan, but an uberfan. We know this since she was discussing with Match about random facts about self propagated research about the show.

You know who else is a superfan?

And there's one more I've been neglecting...

These four comprise the biggest nerds in BFDI history.

It's hilarious to imagine the four as super annoying uberfans.

And it would be more hilarious to imagine them playing BFDI ORGs before they got onto the show. How awesome would that be?

14. Random Moments of Badassery.

I already touched upon how Pencil has dominated in the challenges, but what about the little moments where she suddenly becomes superhuman and starts doing really weird, badass and edgy stuff? Well that's something Pencil has the ability to do in bulk. Here are the top 5 random badass moments she had.

5. When she wasn't afraid to get her hands dirty

4. When she taught herself to bring someone to life.

3. When she inhaled and breathed fire.

2. When she blasted her head through a metal car roof.

1. When she absolutely destroyed team No Name.

I remember watching this scene for the first time and realizing that Pencil was way more badass than I had anticipated. Holy cow, she absolutely destroyed them!

15. The Time when the Huang Twins Murdered Pencil.

And for a while, the twins and Pencil were very good friends. They were always very hospitable to her.

They loved Pencil. They adored Pencil. They couldn't get enough of Pencil. She was likely their favourite character, perhaps second only to Firey.

Fast forward to BFDI, and things haven't changed a bit. Pencil is still the Huang Twins favourite contestant.

She gets portrayed so nicely she manages to get bast the great losing streak of the Squishy Cherries without a single vote.

They even give her a break, with a streak of 11 episodes without having to go to Cake at Stake.

But then sometime after episode 17, the Huang Twins suddenly decided to shift their focus.

After learning that Pencil had the most votes. The twins saw the events about to unfold, and totally let Pencil hang out to dry and completely humiliate her before she gets the boot.

Oh but we're not done yet, the Huang Twins have a few more humiliating things they want to do.

And then as the final cherry on top.

Pencil has arguably one of the saltiest reactions to her blindside.

Wow, just wow. Hero to Zero in under three minutes.

As a sidenote, I'm especially pissed that THIS is the way Pencil was eliminated. Her legacy was tarnished so badly by her boot episode, that for a long time after, people would only talk about how much of a bitch Pencil was. It really did a lot of damage to the legend that is Pencil from seasons 1 and 2.

It even took quite a while for the audience to come back around to liking her after her departure, the actions were THAT devastating.

16. She's always leaning.

I noticed this while assembling fodder for this article.

Pencil is ALWAYS leaning! Take any scene she's in, and she'll be leaning.

It's something incredibly distracting once you notice it.

I have no idea why Pencil is always leaning so much.

Maybe it's a force of habit.

Now I know what most of you are going to say. "This is common among all the tall skinny contestants"

That is in fact, very false.

Yes, they do lean, but not ANYWHERE close to the frequency that Pencil does.

Don't ask me why she has such dynamic body language. Because I don't have the answer, all I know is it's incredibly entertaining to watch.

17. The Most Epic Downfall.

I already explained why I love Pencil's downfall so much in an article you can read here. So I'll give the short version this time.

So there is my comprehensive review for why Pencil is easily the funniest contestant on the show. Each of them were handpicked out of a few more moments I wanted to include, but also I wanted to prevent this article from being incredibly long and annoying once again. And also why she should be your favourite character as well.

Well not exactly your favourite, but I feel like it is my duty to help save the reputation of a sunken character. Especially considering how far she fell from grace after 2017. So this is another one of my love letters to the character and the audience. PLEASE remember how good Pencil used to be, she deserved every bit of legend status she was given.
