#15. Coiny - BFDI(A) (Various episodes)
Coiny is criminally underrated in terms of comedy.
Oh sure you have contestants like Pen, Firey, Bubble, and two mystery characters which have yet to be revealed. Who are commonly cited to have the funniest lines, or most memorable moments, or even manage to show up much more than him in this countdown. But Coiny stands alone from those contestants for one single reason. He is the only character in this rankdown who is actually trying to be funny.
Coiny: Funnyman
Coiny was the first and only comedian that BFDI ever had. Being one of the only self aware contestants on the Squashy Grapes.
Coiny never got the recognition he deserved. Due to his legacy being ruined by Firey. In the very early episodes of the show, Coiny was remembered as the lovable goofball. That all changed in episode nine, when Firey and Coiny were put on the same team. And both of their characters became nothing but arch enemies for four straight episodes.
And although their rivalry was funny. Click here to read more about it. It completley obliterated any personality they had. Unfortunatley, the worse of the two characters was eliminated during this period of time. While the other contestant, not only outlived the other, but went on to regain a personality and win the game. Now that's just downright disappointing.
Firey had gone off and given himself a new personality, developed interesting friendships with Leafy and Tennis Ball. While Coiny was left to rot in the TLC. Never getting a proper chance of redemption or a character epiphany. That was the nail in the coffin for Coiny. Once he was eliminated, he would be remembered as nothing more than a Firey-slapper.
The damage was so irreversable that by the time season 2 had arrived, it became clear, that even though Firey and Coiny were no longer rivals...
Well, sort of
The damage had already been done. Coiny was now bound to the sheckles of being the Firey hater. While Firey had gone off to be invisible. Coiny was put in the centerstage constantly, doing the challenges, coming up with plans. Doing almsot anything as an attempt to regain the love and attention he was owed after his elimination in BFDI.
But you can't teach an audience a retcon.
The unfortunate occurance for Coiny is that he is an amazing character, dynamic, funny, entertaining. But all it took was four episodes near the start of season one to completley define his perception. Much to the detriment of his popularity. Since he is so incredibly underrated when it comes to the BFDI fandom.
"Don't just think of me as a Firey-slapper"
And that's what I intend to do with this article. Is to help change the perception of Coiny to a larger audience. Since he is one of the greatest undiscovered gems of BFDI. Hopefully in this article, I can convince some people that Coiny 100% deserves to be in the BFDI hall of fame. Alongside his rival, Firey. And a few other contestants who are the best of the best.

I will start this article off by reminding you of all 6 of the personalities of Coiny that you might have missed. Since his rivalry with Firey is so overbearing.
In no particular order
PERSONALITY #1: THE PESSIMIST
This is the most straightforward personality of Coiny. This version of him is very beleagured, dull, and sardonic. His brutal sarcasm and cruel remarks make him one of the snarkiest version of his personality. Most of the time, he wouldn't have anything positive to contribute to a group. He would walk into a crowd, insult them, and leave without a second thought. This version of Coiny is pretty entertaining for the mere fact that he loses all respect for everyone. And basically becomes a second copy of Fries.

PERSONALITY #2: THE GOOFBALL
Then ther is also the polar opposite of the pessimist. While pessimist Coiny is very calm, sarcastic, and stright forward. This personality of Coiny is energetic, dorky, and engaged. This of all the personalities is my favourite. It also is when Coiny acts the most like a child. But not to his detriment, it lets him have the range as a character to be entertaining and the show's protagonist.

PERSONSLITY #3: THE TROLL
On the other hand, we have Goofball-Coiny's evil twin. This personality is a lot more mischevous. And a lot more mean spirited. All he wants to do is make somene screw up. He's also pretty good at it too. This version of Coiny is best known for making Firey slap himself. And even managing to annoy the Announcer on multiple occasions.

PERSONALITY #4: THE NAPOLEON
This personality of Coiny involves his tiny stature.
"Hey Coiny! You're even smaller than your value!"
Coiny's smallness makes people ignore him. These conditions produce a version of Coiny who is a lot spunkier and snarkier than his typical attitude. This is the only times where he isn't trying to be funny. And the comedy is merely situational.
"Can you belive he didn't even try my cake?"
He's also a huge complainer.
PERSONALITY #5: THE MASTER MANIPULATOR
Sometimes, out of nowhere, Coiny can lose his calm demeanor and suddenly transform into a master of manipulation.
"Who? Me? How could I possibly? I'm just a itty bitty penny"
Suddenly, without warning. Coiny can flip from being his casual goodboy goof. Into someone who is playing mental chess with people. And typically, he gets exactly what he wants in mere seconds. He is that good at manipulating.

PERSONALITY #6: THE FRAT BRO
Sometimes, when Coiny loses his cool. He looses it in the most peculiar way possible. By becoming loud, rambunctious, and just a little bit insane.
I'm sure we all remembered his moments in IDFB where he spends about 50% of his time shouting, and the other 50% dancing weirdly. Whatever the moment may be. Coiny seemed to be having the most fun he ever experienced. Which is still very entertaining. This personality is pretty close to the goofball personality. Except a lot louder, crazier, and dumber.
(BONUS) PERSONALITY #7: THE CHOIR BOY
You really thought I would leave this moment out? Think again.
So those are the 6.5 personalties of Coiny.
Each of them are entertaining. But one thing I would like to point out is that despite Coiny having such different personalities from one scene to the next. He still remains a cohesive cahracter. His personality makes sense. And he is always written in a way that is entertaining and funny.
There are so many moments I wish I had the time to highlight here.

P.S. I know that Coiny is still semi popular in a lot of the BFDI fandom. It may seem that way on a few message boards, but they are still outnumbered. The superfans, including myself absolutley adore Coiny, since in season two, he really got to shine as a personality. But that isn't reflected much in a large majority today's fanbase.
P.P.S. I know a lot of you are shocked that I included something from IDFB in this countdown. I don't actually have it off limits. it just kind of turned out that way. For clarification. BFB and BFBFB are not included in this countdown. Stay tuned for a possible part two!
P.P.P.S. Alien: If I could interject. Have any of you noticed that Coiny is male Pencil. And Pencil is female Coiny?
I actually have not. But now that you mention it. They are remarkably similar. Especially in BFDIA. I guess if you really do think about it. Both contestants not only acted similar. But played similar roles on the show.
Coiny and Pencil were both returnee players in the second season. Both of them played the role as the leader. And both of them played a major part in the dismantleing of team NO NAME. But more importantly, they are both massive pillars and drivers of the plot in nearly every episode. The challenge happens because of them. Both of them are orange. One is tall, while the other is short. They both are very sarcastic contestants. They are also very dry contestants. Both remain pretty calm under pressure. They really are similar leaders.
