The EmpowerHer Collective prides itself on bringing together young activists to educate each other and the community, instilling ethical values and social justice in the world around them.
Hi! I'm Aubrey (she/they) and I am an upcoming Senior at Weston High School. I live in Westport and am 17 years old. I have always been very passionate about helping others, and throughout high school my love for social justice, political science, sociology, and activism has blossomed. I have participated in some activism at school, but it always dissipates due to the administration being involved or the adults not caring enough. I want actual change and education in my community, so I thought: why not create it myself, solely run by people my age? Gen-Z is a powerful generation that is deeply motivated to address important issues, but sometimes has trouble going through with their plans, and just reposts random activist posts on social media without any action. This needs to change. Through The EmpowerHer Collective, my goal is to educate ourselves and the community through the works of academics that are respected in their field, and then plan events that truly make change in our community.
