Anyone in grades 9-12 can join. Although the group is geared toward women, any gender can join and are welcome! We want activism and education to be accessible to everyone, which is why people who live farther away will be able to join meetings on zoom. Alumni of the group can still be involved but cannot be the main members of the group.
Go to the Join tab and fill out the google form. The President will get back to you shortly with the information you will need about the group and will invite you to the EmpowerHer Slack via email.
Anyone in the group may apply to be a board member, though may not necessarily be permitted into the position if not qualified. The applicant must be responsible, committed, and available. Positions include President (taken), Vice President (taken), Secretary, Treasurer, Constituency Chair, Social Media Manager , and Event Coordinator. To apply please go to the Join tab at the top right of this website.

Every week, one member will choose a reading for everyone to read and discuss for the next meeting that is relevant to the work we do as activists. The first 30-45 minutes of the meeting will be discussing the piece, showing our differing perspectives and growing ourselves as academics so that we can make as many educated decisions in the community as possible. The rest of the meeting will be event planning, brainstorming, and coming up with what organizations we should collaborate with. The meetings will be productive and focused.
The group will have movie nights and different social events to build the team together. Without a bonded group of strong activists, it will be harder to work together to come up with solutions to make the world a better place. And what's a group without a little fun?! :)
The main topic of discussion will be based around feminism, yet other social issues such as mental health awareness, lqbtqia+ activism, and any other issues that affect the community around us can and should be discussed.
