Providing in person, live training sessions would be a dream come true, but for now we are fully digital.
I am Deborah Casey, Founder and CEO of The Digital Holistic Therapist, an educator, researcher and qualified Mental Health Nurse with a longstanding background in holistic therapies, health and social care, and adult education.
My work brings together professional education, continuing research and lived experience to develop accessible learning in domestic abuse and violence, sexual violence, rape and exploitation, mental health and holistic well-being.
Through The Digital Holistic Therapist, I develop online courses, professional learning resources, research-informed articles and case-study material designed to encourage deeper understanding, critical reflection and informed practice.
Education has remained central throughout my personal and professional journey. Today, my focus is on using that education to create meaningful learning opportunities for people around the world.
We provide our digital education and training through Udemy, an international learning platform that offers students flexibility and accessibility wherever they are in the world.
Students benefit from lifetime access to purchased courses, multimedia learning resources, opportunities for additional support through our private learning community, and Udemy's 30-day money-back guarantee, subject to Udemy's applicable terms and conditions.
Our courses range from education for personal and professional development to structured professional qualification programmes. Where specifically indicated, qualifying courses are approved and accepted by Foyht and recognised by GBIuk for professional indemnity insurance, providing eligible successful students with a pathway towards professional practice in their chosen holistic therapy.
Professional recognition applies only to courses specifically identified as qualifying programmes. Individual students remain responsible for ensuring that any course, membership or insurance arrangement meets the requirements applicable to their intended scope of practice and location.
My professional experience has developed across Holistic and Complementary Therapies, Mental Health Nursing, adult education, research and online course development.
As a qualified Holistic Therapist, I gained experience working across a variety of community settings before progressing into higher education and qualifying as a Mental Health Nurse. Through my nursing career, I gained experience supporting people with a range of mental health, emotional and social care needs. Alongside nursing, I continued developing my professional practice in holistic therapies and established private holistic therapy clinics.
Education gradually became an increasingly important part of my professional work. My experience expanded into teaching, independent research, writing and the development of educational resources across holistic therapies, health and social care, mental health, domestic abuse and violence, and sexual violence, rape and exploitation.
Today, through The Digital Holistic Therapist, my work focuses predominantly upon education, research and course development. I bring together professional knowledge, continuing study and lived experience to provide accessible learning opportunities for students internationally.
My educational journey began with the encouragement and support of a single woman, Grandma O, who recognised my potential and encouraged me to study, learn and train. Her support helped open the door to education and ultimately to the professional journey that followed.
Through my local college, I gained VTCT qualifications in Holistic Therapies, later expanding my training through additional therapy qualifications and certifications undertaken with private education providers.
I subsequently progressed to University, where I gained my Bachelor of Science degree in Mental Health Nursing and qualified as a Mental Health Nurse.
My development as an educator continued through the Bridge Project, where I gained my PTLLS teaching qualification alongside additional training and certification supporting my work in adult education.
Education did not end with formal qualification. Independent study, continuing professional development and research have remained central to my work, particularly across holistic therapies, mental health, health and social care, domestic abuse and violence, sexual violence, rape and exploitation.
What began with one woman encouraging me to believe that I could learn eventually developed into a career centred upon providing opportunities for others to learn.
