The Dendrite: Academic Journal Club of uOttawa is a science journal club which welcomes all students interested in reading, discussing and analyzing scientific literature in the biomedical field. We are a group of science students hoping to learn more about ongoing cutting-edge research and share our passion with others as well!
We hope to have members helping each other to learn how to read primary scientific literature and work on our knowledge translation skills. These skills would be a facet, not only in the short term as science students involved in case competitions and honours theses, but also as future scientists and health care professionals.
The Dendrite aims to meet these objectives through an engaging approach involving informal discussions, fun activities and guest speakers who can lend insight from their unique experiences.
As Co-Presidents, we’re excited to lead a club dedicated to fostering a passion for research and learning. At The Dendrite uOttawa, we aim to make research approachable and engaging for all students, whether you’re taking your first steps into academia or expanding your expertise in a specific field. Through journal clubs, guest speaker events, and collaborative projects, we strive to build a supportive and inclusive space for students to explore, connect, and grow.
This year, we’re thrilled to bring you new initiatives, including The Dendrite Podcast hosted by Saeed and Farnam, and our hope is that every member finds valuable experiences and insights that will empower them both in their academic and personal journeys.
Thank you for being part of this community. We look forward to a fantastic year of discovery and collaboration!
Sincerely,
Rachel Sudhakar & Abdelrahman Fahmy
