Students will complete a series of projects throughout the year that introduce them to the following concepts: the Elements and Principles of Art and Design, color theory, observational studies, a variety of art mediums, composition and creativity.
Students were challenged to think about important questions surrounding the world of art and our ideas of what is "good" or "bad". Student then set out to make "bad" art of their own and the result were quite the opposite, but I supposed that's really up to the viewer to decide...
Discussion Questions:
What is "good/bad art"?
Who decided what/when art is good/bad?
What makes art good/bad?
Is art made by someone famous automatically "good/bad"?
What makes art have value? Is that intrinsic value or monetary value?
Should "good" art have meaning?
I'm sure that by now you've seen the greatest movies of all time, right? Of course you have!
For this project, students joined me in inserting ourselves into the world of the Spider-Verse! Students were tasked with designing their own spider-sona (Spider-Man variant) while learning about art techniques, such as foreshortening, using perspective, and drawing anatomy.
