Bisque fired pieces hold up much better in Raku firings than pieces that have yet to be bisque fired.

Bisque fired pieces are first heated up.
After reaching temperature, heated pieces are transferred with tongs from the raku kiln to a metal container containing various combustibles (ex. saw dust and paper). The ceramic piece should then be covered with combustible materials. Finally, a metal lid should be placed over the metal container to snuff out the flame.
