Students understand the significance of mathematical discoveries
Materials and resources
Squared paper, pencils, lines, worksheets
Subjects Maths; graphics; History
Main information/ why it is important
Pick's theorem shortens the time required for calculation. This activity focuses on basic skills that students need to develop - time and materials management.
Stages:
• Step 1: The lesson begins with a short discussion about geometric shapes, formulas for finding a face, the teacher shows a "square" to the students.
• Step 2: Divide the students into groups. Each group receives instructions on the basis of which they must make calculations in two different ways (the traditional formula and the Pick formula). Students exchange their worksheets and compare their results.
• Step 3: Groups creates drawings to each other and make calculations by two ways. Students control the time.
• Step 4: Discussion - Peak's formula makes finding a face of a geometric shape much faster, as long as the figure is drawn on squared paper. The teacher gives the students the task to find additional information about George Pick and his scientific achievements.
Pick formula (P = W + 0.5B - 1)
P- face of the figure
W- number of squares in the figure
B- number of squares outside the figure
Objectives: To develop the skills for logical thinking, teamwork, time management and to teach students to create new formulas and check their validity.
Description: Revision of face formulas, introduction of Pick's theorem, presentation of a new unit of measurement - square
Teamwork, calculations, comparison of results.

Short description of the lesson
To put thinking routines into practice, it was important to learn the structure of the send second conditional. To learn it briefly from the theoretical point of view. Then I checked if they are able to use it and continued with exercise A and B, pg. 145 in English File. Then all of us continued with the most important part of the lesson with the game thanks to which the students could practice thinking routines which helped them to be more self-confident and fluent in usage of second conditional.
Evaluation
I think it was a pretty successful lesson. Some students were active. However, some of them were shy to speak. Most students preferred the second part of the lesson because they could show their speaking skills and join their creativity.

Short description of the lesson
Students are asked to sit in groups of 2 - 3 people. One of them receives a message written on a note. He must convey that message to his colleagues without using articulate language, but only through signs or drawn emoticons. When those in the group understand the message correctly, the roles change. It shows how important it is to communicate with all the people around us and the fact that we cannot live without communicating.
Evaluation

Squaredpaper, pencils, lines, worksheets, images
Subjects - Romanian language, theatre
Main information/ why it is important
Students will understand the need to accept people with hearing or speech impairments.
They will experience alternative ways of communicating with people of other nationalities.
Stages:
• Step 1: The lesson begins with a short discussion about communication: what it means to communicate, what are the rules of effective communication, how to communicate with people in difficulty or who are native speakers of a language you do not know.
• Step 2: Divide the students into groups of 2-3 people. One of the students receives a message written on a note and some pictures with emoticons. He has to convey the message to his colleagues without speaking, just using signs, gestures.
• Step 3: When one of the group guesses, the roles change.
• Step 4: Discussion - After everyone has interpreted the message received on the note, a discussion is initiated with all the students. It shows how they felt, if they managed to convey the message, what went wrong, what happened with communication between partners.
• Step 5: Game - The teacher distributes an A4 sheet to all the students. He gives everyone the same instructions: to bend or tear the sheet into various shapes. At the end, it will be noticed that each student has a different model. The conclusion is that even though we send the same message, two different people can understand something else.
