Henry An is a sixth grader at Bigelow Middle School. His mix of watercolor and collage is shown on the left depicting a humpback whale swimming among piles of pollution. He says that his inspiration came from the humpback whale's "humongous size and its ability to migrate long distances spanning from tropical to arctic waters." The collage which can be seen on both sides of the whale is made up of everyday waste such as newspapers, straws, yogurt cups and flyers. By using waste that could be found on beaches, rivers, and lakes, An incorporates the sad reality of climate change and marine pollution into the watercolor of a beautiful marine mammal.
