Current and past Programs

Solid Warriors Program

Solid Warriors is a 42 week program funded by the QLD Department of Sport and Recreation provided for free to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders youth aged between 12 and 17 that runs every Friday night during school terms at The Boss Boxing gym in Zillmere.

The Solid Warriors program gives young people access to appropriate mentoring whilst helping them gain fitness and boxing skills. The group meets in a Culturally safe space where they can feel comfortable enough to have a yarn and join in for a healthy meal. Respected Community Elders and First Nations Police Liaison Officers also attend sessions to mentor and guide the youth. The Solid Warriors program also provides supervised transportation to and from the gym courtesy of the Koobara Kindy bus and driver.

This program has been successful in increasing the physical activity levels of First Nations youth and helping overcome various barriers preventing their participation in sport and recreation.

Golden Girls Program

The First Nations Golden Girls Program is a fully-funded initiative throught The Department of Communities, Housing and Digital Economy which aims to improve the social, emotional and physical health and wellbeing of our female Elders.

Run by The Boss Boxing, and supported by the Allied Health team from Wesley Mission Qld, this weekly program promotes meaningful connection, safe exercises and relevant education sessions.
