We are seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher to develop single-molecule protein sequencing technologies using fluorescence and microfluidic platforms. The project integrates optical microscopy, biochemical assay development, and microfluidics for high-throughput protein analysis. Applicants with experience in molecular biology, biophysics, microscopy, microfluidics, or protein biochemistry are encouraged to apply.
For the 2026/2027 academic years, 2 Master students and 2 bachelor internship positions available.

Topic 1: Single-molecule itterogation of Argonaut target search (ideal for Biology students, but open to all scientific backgrounds!)
We study the molecular mechanisms of prokaryotic Argonaute proteins, important components of bacterial defense systems with exciting potential in biotechnology and genome engineering. Although eukaryotic Argonautes are well known for their roles in RNA silencing, the target recognition mechanisms of prokaryotic Argonautes remain largely unexplored. In this project, you will apply cutting edge single-molecule fluorescence techniques to visualize individual Argonaute proteins in real time. This work will provide a unique opportunity to uncover how these proteins search for and recognize target nucleic acids at the molecular level.
Topic 2: Single-molecule Electromechanical Systems (ideal for Chemistry and Physics students, but open to all scientific backgrounds!)
This project uses single macromolecules as the world’s smallest mechanical devices that interact with the outside world through electrical signals. Molecular conformational changes are coupled to electrical readout and actuation, enabling functions ranging from simple biosensing to molecular-scale logic device. The work establishes a platform for molecular electromechanical systems at the interface of biology and nanoelectronics.
Topic 3: Single-molecule protein sequencing (ideal for Biomedical engineering students, but open to all scientific backgrounds!)
This research investigates how biomolecules move and respond to physical cues under nanoscale confinement, processes fundamental to cellular organization and regulation. In parallel, we develop enzyme-based single-molecule protein sequencing in nanoreactors within advanced microfluidic devices, enabling direct analysis of protein identity and heterogeneity.
