Mohini grew up in Mumbai, India where she completed her Bachelors and Masters in Science from St. Xavier's College, University of Mumbai. She then moved across the globe to pursue her doctorate degree in the lab of Dr. Daniel J. Wozniak at The Ohio State University where she studied the pathogenesis of, and neutrophil response to, Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa in the context of biofilm/chronic infection (wound, CF). She then followed her love for MRSA research to train as a postdoctoral fellow with Dr. Olaf Schneewind and Dr. Dominique Missiakas at the University of Chicago. Here she studied the factors that influence agglutination of plasma in bloodstream infections. She then moved to Denver, Colorado to complete her postdoctoral training with Dr. Alexander Horswill. Under his mentorship she was able to formulate the foundation of her independent research, to ask fundamental questions about the interaction of pathogens with human innate scaffolding during skin infection.

BS in Microbiology- University of Minnesota
I am Cameroonian-American, born and raised in the Twin Cities of Minnesota. I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in Microbiology. During my time at UMN, I studied the functional genetics of Enterococcus faecalis in the lab of Julia Willett. My honors thesis work was focused on determining the genes necessary for gelatinase activity in E. faecalis. When I’m not in the lab, you can find me at a bookstore, my favorite breweries, or my local yarn shop!
