Starting in Fall 2022, this paid program pairs UA Astronomy undergraduates (primarily Sophomores with little research experience) with a research lab at UA throughout the academic year. Additional workshops for the student cohort provides apprentices with technical research skills (Hardware and Computation) that are necessary tools to obtain research positions in Astronomy.

In 2020, artists shared their creative practice(s) with astronomers and physicists at UA. Each 6-week program was led by different artists sharing their individual creative practices with graduate students in astronomy and physics.
Throughout Summer 2022, Dr. Besla and the Lab invited astronomers and physicists to share their astronomy practice with artists. Each scientist shared a question, action, problem-solving or sensemaking practice they hold or perform in their research, and help illuminate the mysteries, complexities, significance, necessities, and beauty of their work.
We hosted a week-long residency for astronomers and artists in Tucson AZ from May 29-June 2nd 2023.
