Mentorship and Education in SCIence for Tucson (MESCIT)* is a UArizona mentorship and math tutoring program servicing the Native American student population around Tucson. We have been active since 2017 and have worked with students from a continually-expanding list of middle and high schools in the area. Our program is organized by a dedicated team of faculty, staff, and graduate students from the Physics and Astronomy departments at the University of Arizona. Our tutors are selected from the UArizona undergraduate student body, and visit our partner schools on a weekly basis to tutor math in small groups of 1-2 students. Our goal is to facilitate a healthy connection between tutor and student, such that the student has someone to work with for homework help, advice, and accountability.
