A Guide to THE BASIC SCHOOL
A Guide to THE BASIC SCHOOL
Greetings! If you've somehow stumbled upon my page, welcome. This is a guide to The Basic School, the second phase of training in the Marine Corps officer training pipeline, after either Officer Candidates School (OCS) or a service academy. Although this was the first guide I wrote, I wrote two other guides that should chronologically come before this guide.
These guides are my Meeting an OSO guide, for those who are just getting started, and my OCS guide, for those who have been accepted for OCS. This guide is geared more toward those who have already graduated OCS or one of the service academies, but I believe this guide will definitely be informative for those who want a better understanding of the Marine Officer Training.
Okay so the links have been acting weird, so try these:

Who am I? I am a Marine Corps officer who started my joining the military process in 2018, graduated OCS and commissioned in 2019, and graduated TBS in 2020. When I wrote this guide, I was a "butter bar" (2ndLt), two months before promoting to 1stLt who wanted to help those going to TBS. There are many prep sites, but there was almost no information about TBS.
I really struggled with OCS, and I struggled through TBS as well. At OCS, I struggled with physical fitness and ended up breaking my heel and almost not graduating. At TBS, I did not struggle with physical fitness at all. I had personal problems that made my TBS experience VERY difficult, and if I did not have these issues, I would have had a BLAST at TBS. Whatever you hear about TBS, just know that you can get through, because I did. If I can, YOU can.
