ME 218A Final Project
Team 12: Baxter, Orianna, Aditya
To design and build a device that semi-automates a key aspect of life in a mobile home
To gain experience with using a PIC32 Microcontroller and its SPI system to build an electromechanical system
An Automated Window and Curtain Electrical Machine (AWAK 'EM)
We used an analog Joystick to control the Servo motor that actuated the window using a
bi-directional mechanism
The more the joystick was depressed in a given direction, the faster the window moved
Two Infrared LED contactless sensors controlled the motion of the curtain which was connected to a pulley system actuated by a DC Motor
Blocking the left sensor opened the curtain. Blocking the right sensors would close it
An LED Matrix Display was used to display message instructions and prompts to the user at each state and display the passage of time
An Audio Soundboard was used to play audio instructions to the user through headphones
