How to stay connected with the Anointing of The Holy Spirit?
When the Power of God takes over us, we should start living in the word of God.
What does it mean to live in the word of God?
Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to your mind. This is what we refer to as Discerning the Voice of God.
Biblical References on the Voice of God
Jn.10:3 - The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
Jn.10:16 - I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.
Jn.10:27 - My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
Jn.16:12 - 15 – 12The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. 13 The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. 14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father and I lay down my life for the sheep.
How to Discern the Voice of God?
1. Holy Spirit will guide into the path of Righteousness/Truth. We should start moving in this direction. God is Holy and we have to be Holy. Because God cannot be there in that place, where there is sin.
2. He will give you what is yours and make it known to you. Your purpose in life is just to Glorify God.
Ref: Jn 10:16 - I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.
3. All of us have many questions lingering in our mind concerning the past, present and future. We need to take important decisions in our life. The only means to arrive at secure decisions is to seek the Power of the Holy Spirit. For which we need to listen to His Voice. When we obey Him, we will hear His Voice. It’s a two-way communication, were we talk and listen. How do we know that we are making the right decisions in our life? Is it the will of God?
Ref.: Rom. 8:14 - For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.
4. To listen to His Voice, first we should know how God loves us. God sent His only son to die for us. In our life, we can listen to the Bible, God’s love letter for us.
Ref.: Heb.10:19&20 – 19 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body.
5. He wants us to be successful and will never do anything for our disaster. He reveals His intention for us. This is a means to know our God. He makes a declaration that comes from His heart.
Ref: Jer.29:11 - For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
6. We can hear His Voice, in many ways, at different times.
Ref: Gen.3:8 - Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
7. When we are born again then, Holy Spirit starts being active and He leads.
Ref: Ps.37:23 - 23 The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; 24 though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.
8. When you start delighting in The Lord, your steps (righteous) are made firm. God will give you a second chance. This assurance He gives. He does not want us to doubt Him, neither rely on our own. He reveals to those who seek.
Ref: Jer. 29:12 &13 - 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
Ref: Prov. 16:3 Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.
Ref: Prov. 3:5 & 6 - 5Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
9. Humility is the virtue that attracts the heart of Jesus. There are the 7 Capital Sins, of which the most important is Pride that threw out Lucifer from the Heavenly realm. God loves the humble and lowly.
10. There are 3 Voices that we need to take note of. 1] Voice of God
2] Voice of Fleshy desires 3] Voice of devil
As Children of God, we are marked by the seal of the Holy Spirit. We need to train our ears to listen to His Voice.
Ref.: Jn. 10: 4 & 5 - 4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5 But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.”
Ref.: Heb. 5:14 - But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.
Ref.: Is. 30:21 - Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”
11. Take the step to exercise the gifts you have received from the Holy Spirit. Keep this very important hint in mind – Every time you take a decision listening to God’s voice, you will have peace.
How do you know that it’s the Voice of God?
Need to adopt the following 7 Filters as the criteria:
1. Carefully examine your thoughts and your intentions.
2. The Word speaks, be prepared to listen. The Holy Spirit will be speaking to your heart and not to your mind.
Ref.: 2 Tim. 3: 16 & 17(1) – 16All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God[1] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Ref.: Heb. 8:10-11 - 10This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel
after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. 11No longer will they teach their neighbour, or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.
3. The prophetic word of God will be revealed to you. How to know it is from God? It will be based on scripture knowledge. Manipulating thoughts will come – check and lookout.
Ref.: 1Thes.5:19-20 - 19 Do not quench the Spirit. 20 Do not treat prophecies with contempt.
4. Start to take counsel from God.
Ref.: Prov.11:14 - For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through
many advisers.
5. Wait for confirmation. God will give you a confirmation – by The Word.
Ref.: Mt.16:18 - But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’
6. Peace of God will flow unto you. Circumstances will start to reveal.
Ref.: Col. 3:15 - Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
Ref.: Acts 18:1-3 - 1After this, Paul left Athens and went to Corinth. 2 There he met a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had ordered all Jews to leave Rome. Paul went to see them, 3 and because he was a tentmaker as they were, he stayed and worked with them.
7. Not just seek The Word, but be there to submit to God’s authority. Stop from sin that is preventing you from listening to God’s Voice.
Ref.: Rom. 8:9 – You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.
Things to remember:
1. Only when you are in peace and rest will you be able to listen to His Voice.
2. When you lack wisdom, God gives generously, when you ask. Obedience is the main key to listen.
Ref.: James 1:5 - If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
Ref.: Jn. 14:15 - You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
3. God’s Voice is not a voice of gossip. His voice is not condemnation.
Ref.: Rom. 8:1-2 - 1Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.
How to read the Bible?
From corner to corner, randomly, but what is most important while reading is, that your reading should help you:
to understand the Heart of God,
to understand the Mind of God,
to communicate with God and
to journey with God.
