Reviews
"This is one of the best "Pulp" settings I every played and read. The STARS system is fast and light but still covers all you need for an amazing 30's serial feel."

"Just picked this up and I have to say, it's one of the best looking game books I've seen in a long time. The layout and design is very evocative of the Pulp era and that's a big draw for me. The setting and background content look to be very well crafted. There are numerous scenario seeds in here and one longer adventure which is great as too often I pick up a game and there is little or no adventure content. The only reason I've given this a 4 star review at this point is that I haven't had a chance to read the game rules in any depth yet and so I'm not able to recommend wholeheartedly yet. After a first glance at character creation, I would have liked a walkthrough of the process but this is only a minor quibble. I'm very happy with my purchase at this price point and it seems that there is a lot of adventure material in development as well and I look forward to picking up more for this game as soon as it is available."

"Menace and Mystery is setting book filled with excellent production values that really evokes the pulp setting. It also contains plenty of detail on the 1930s setting to help players and GMs to get a feel for the era and the pulp genre in general.
The profession based STAR system is also great, simplifing dice rolls so that people in certain occupations are experienced in certain things like picking locks or just have something in certain cases like knowing Arabic or Russian as a language or as a PI having police contacts in a city.
There are plenty of good hooks and a globe-trotting adventure ready to go - definitely recommend this!"
