A Real Tipton
A Real Tipton
'Tipton' is a term used by OBC members to decribe a card that has a 'well-loved' appearance. That is to say the card has characteristics of a Poor graded card but retains a certain 'essence' that makes it valuable to it's possessor.
The term, 'Tipton' comes from the last name of the Guru of OBC, Larry Tipton. It has widespread usage in OBC and is slowly spreading out as well. The merits and definitions of a Tipton card are still being debated and a grading scale concerning just Tipton cards has been developing.
Pictured is a wonderful example of a Tipton card. Any number of the various defects on the card would give this card a lower grading but the heart and soul, the essence of the card remain. This card HAS been well-loved. This card is TIPTON.
