Sew and Patch the Heart's Sorrow

You left that night under the fading moonlight.

Leaves falling in the chilly mountain night.

Leaves falling, covering up the foot of the hill.

There’s a girl with pallid lips sitting still.

Under the dim lamplight,

she lies sleepless at night.

Hearing the wind howling.

Wondering where you are now?

O How! How can one gather the wind in the far sea.

How can the wind blow to where you are lying.

You are lying some place faraway.

The forest’s somber and silent.

The distant moon pales in sorrow.

You lies buried under the earth.

Over your grave, I pile up the leaves

As I sew and patch the heart’s sorrow.
