Education

My degree consists of two Majors:

Electronic Media Communication with a track in Film Production and Digital Media Arts.

My major is called Film and Gaming Story.

I specialize on the aspects of visual storytelling for feature films and video games. I have learned the basics of 3D modeling, animation, three stages of production, cinematography, and collaborative work. I desire to work in the Film Industry or Gaming Industry, directing and writing.

I have a Minor in Theatre to help me build a stronger relationship between the Director and Actor. I want to better the communication, understanding, and collaboration when working together on a project.

Introduction to Film (COM2007)

This course launched me into a different way of thinking about film. I learned about the history and theory of film, and I was taught how to analyze and evaluate the different methods of filmmaking. There was a strong focus on the different forms of art, literature, historical context, culture and industry of film that helped me better understand film.

Story Structure (EMC1016)

This collaborative course furthered my knowledge of storyboarding, acts, scenes, premises, plots, characters, action, and motifs. I gained the ability to analyze professional scripts. I learned how to write scripts with a narrative story structure and work other classmates in producing short films.

Post-Production (EMC3137)

This course provided my first experience with Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premier Pro, and After Effects. I learned the different post-production procedures along with editing theories and practices. I was taught the basics of editing aesthetics, editing techniques, composting and effects, and finishing techniques. I was able to explore and exercise my own creative ideas through the numerous projects presented in this course.

Northwestern Productions (EMC2626)

This interactive workshop course provided me with my first hands-on experience and training in writing, directing, producing, and editing different types of video productions. I was able to work with others and learned to use my problem solving skills and creativity to accomplish a project from conception to completing.

Animation I (DMA1105) • Animation II (DMA2201)

This course introduced me the techniques, strategies and conceptual approaches to animation. I learned about the 12 Principles of Animation that helped me to create movement and character in my animations. I developed a deeper understanding of the various methods of animation and their processes.

3D Modeling (DMA3303)

This course expanded my knowledge of hard- and soft-body surface of the 3D world. I was able to develop my understanding of Maya to design models using different tools in the software. I have improved my 3D modeling for the use of animation, films, and print.

Figure Drawing (DMA3105) • Character Design (DMA3305)

These two classes collectively helped me to understand how to create movement, perspective, and personality in my drawings. I have a better grasp of how to draw the human anatomy with realistic gestures and composition. Throughout the course, I saw a progression of quality and depth in my drawings. I have developed the ability to create complex designs in conjunction with story, animation and cinematic concepts.

Screenwriting (EMC3115)

This course opened my perspective of the distinctive characteristic of scripts for film. I learned more about the three-act structure, character delineation and motivation, conflict development and pacing, dialogue and subtext, and unifying message. I created a treatment for a film and discussed with other on their scripts and mine, sharing ideas and constructive

GC Production (DMA3205)

This course gave me the experience to work with another student in creating an animated short. We leaned together on how to conceptualize, write, and storyboard with one another. We worked through developing different characters and creating a story.

Single Camera Production (EMC3135)

This intensive course taught me the in-depth aspects of writing and directing your own personal written script. I learned how to use the power of imagery to tell a story with meaning and style. This class not only helped me to see the artistry behind directing but also the importance of storytelling.

Internship: Inside Hollywood (LAF3709)

This internship gave me the opportunity to have a hands-on encounter working in the heart of the film industry. I made many connections and learn about the difficulties and hardships while working at a post-production company. I was blessed to work on set as a PA and watched the creative work and analytical problem solving of the director.

Faith & Artistic Development in Film (LAF3700)

This course opened my eyes on how to incorporate my faith in my career and the challenges that are presented in LA for being a follow of Jesus Christ. I have learned many different facts about God and myself during this course. I have been reminded that God’s intentions are in my best interests. He is someone I can ask for wisdom and someone I can but my entire trust in.

Hollywood Production Workshop (LAF2706)

This rigorous course challenged me in a specific area of film. I spent three months learning about the varied responsibilities and duties of a producer and a 1st Assistant Director. I learned to write proposals, budget finances, make call sheets and shooting schedules, location scouting, and work on profession level with others. The most important characteristic of this course was its ability to push me to be a better filmmaker and helping me realize there are many different aspects to filmmaking that are crucial in creating a beautiful and complete moving picture.
