We are so glad you found us here! We love what we do, and we are here to help.
We are Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) and Communicative Disorders Assistants (CDAs) at KidsInclusive Centre for Child and Youth Development, located in South East Ontario, Canada.
We work together to help children and youth with their families in their preschool and school-age years.
This place was created to share information and resources with the clients, families, and educators we support.

It's important to limit screen time with all children. The Canadian Pediatric Society (CPS) recommends:
No screen time, including televisions, tablets, and smartphones, for children under 2 years of age and no more than 1 hour of supervised screen time daily for children over 2. Check out the CPS poster for children 0-5 years.
For older children and teens, try to limit screen time as much as possible. Screen time should be educational and relevant, something that might be helpful to learn as a child. Make sure to have family time in which no one uses screens (consider mealtimes one of those options!). Check out the CPS poster for older children and youth.
For more information about the impact of screen time on communication development, watch this video from First Words - Preschool Speech and Language Program of Ottawa and Renfrew County.
Children develop speech, language, and literacy skills through direct interactions with attentive caregivers, creative peers, and their environment.
