As simple Jamboard is, it is an incredibly powerful tool when it comes to aiding you visually.
At this time, I use it for brainstorming, for visual plotting when things get complicated and I have to keep track of multiple characters, locations and threads, and as scrapbook in the research phase of developing a story.
Sticky notes are virtual post-its that you can write on and place anywhere on the board.
There is a character limit on the notes, but when it comes to visually planning something or having pointers that is actually a good thing. It forces you to keep thoughts to the essentials, and let the detailing come when you are in the actual writing phase in Docs.
Notes coming with the ability to be color coded which helps you to keep topics visually distinct and easy to spot
When you hit Save in writing a Sticky note, you'll get a small, square with your chosen color and your text that you can drag and drop anywhere on the board but that isn't the end of it.
By clicking the top right corner you get a few more options.
You can edit the text or duplicate the note or delete it from the board (alternatively hit Del)
Grabbing the lower corners allows you to resize, and the top left corner lets you rotate the note
On the left side of the screen you'll find the tool bar which is very basic and yet isn't lacking when it comes to do something that will serve you well in your story building. Much like in the case of the Sticky notes, keeping it simple allows you to maintain focus on the bigger picture and not get lost in the details.
The Pen and the Eraser are self explanatory, though the pen got Marker, Highlighter and Brush options in addition to color variants.
The Selector is just allowing you to return to moving around Sticky notes and pictures.
The Picture icon allows you to pin a picture on your board, where the handling of the image goes exactly the same as you'd handle a Sticky note.
The Pointer is essentially a laser pointer that you can use to live-mark an area while you share the board with someone for viewing.
This last option is very handy when you having a discussion with someone on Discord and want to direct attention at a specific point of your board.
And finally, when you filled up your board and you need more to keep working, just find the right button on the top middle of the board which will add new pages.
