Your child will have access to a range of resources designed to stimulate the imagination, challenge intellectually and encourage independence in learning.
The activities, equipment and toys will be appropriate to your child’s developmental stage and will provide opportunities for him/her to build upon previous skills and develop further in the course of play and exploration.
Each child will have a ‘key person’ who settles them into their new environment, records developmental observations, set next steps, tracks their development through termly reports and plans effective focused activities for each individual child. We take children’s interests and next steps to inform our planning.
We strongly believe that being outside is very important for children’s physical and emotional well-being and we ensure that they go outside every day and have time in our little garden too. We have ‘wet weather’ clothing and footwear, to ensure that children can be outside and have fun in all weather conditions.
We have nearby access to a library, a large park 10 minutes’ walk away, and the train station in close approximately, as well as a bus stop so the children can go on regular trips where learning opportunities are provided.
In the summer months we spend lots of time over Raphael’s park too and enjoy outdoor picnics and woodland. We take younger children out in 4-seater buggies and the older children walk with adults whilst on wrist leads. We have thorough procedures for safely taking the children out into the local community. We are lucky to be a small setting which enables us to take the children of the premises daily – this is something the children hugely benefit from.
