I teach math at St. Paul’s School in Concord, NH, where I live with my family. I also coach squash and am Head of House in a girls dormitory. I previously taught at the University of New Hampshire, Granite State College, and the Virtual Learning Academy Charter School, both online and face-to-face. I hold a B.S. and an M.Eng in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from Cornell University, an MBA from Wichita State University, and an Ed.D from Northeastern University. My research interests include persistent algebraic misconceptions, brain-based learning, spaced and interleaved practice, and formative assessment.
In the classroom my goal is to create an environment where students actively participate in learning. I've adapted the idea of the "rotated" classroom to fit my goals: to teach students how to teach themselves and each other through persistence, active engagement, and formative assessment.
I believe a statistics course should be standard for all high school students, no matter what they plan to “be” when they grow up :)
