Recently, there have been a lot of negative news concerning the ongoing climate crisis. However, there are also good news. It is generally known that the deforestation of the Amazon Rainforest is a pressing problem, but in 2023, there has been an approximate 48 percent drop in the amount of square kilometres destroyed in comparison to 2022. This was detected by Brazil’s national space research institute, INPE, also known as DETER. The fact that the deforestation has decreased by almost 50 percent provides hope for the future of the rainforest, which is an essential part of not only Brazil’s and South America's ecosystem, but also that of the entire world.
