The Hofzinser Royal Marriages plot rides again in this self-working version.
1. Remove the Kings and Queens and place them in a face-up pile paired in suits with the Kings above the Queens—for example, QC-KC-QH-KH-QS-KS-QD-KD (face card).
Now remove the two Jokers (or the red Aces) and place them to one side.
2. Pick up the packet and spread the cards, saying, "At the moment, the couples are happily married. But that wont last for long because Im going to shuffle them around." Carry out three Reverse Faros—the first must keep the top card in place—after that, it doesn't matter. After the third Reverse Faro, when you strip out the cards—keep a break between the two groups when you combine them.
3. Pick up a Joker and place it face down on top of the packet, saying, "The Jokers are the BEST marriage guidance councillors in the business, and they will help restore the four marriages." Cut at the break and complete the cut. Pick up the other Joker, obtaining a break under the top card, and drop it face down on top. Cut the top two cards to the bottom.
4. Deal the packet into two piles—dealing alternately left and right. Now carry out the following simple process to produce four perfect matches:
A) Pick up the left pile and spell K-I-N-G, transferring one card from top to bottom for each letter. Now turn the top card face up and deal it to the table. It is a King. Replace the pile on the table.
B) Pick up the right pile and spell Q-U-E-E-N, transferring one card from top to bottom for each letter. Now turn the top card face up and deal it onto the King. It's the matching Queen.
C) Now stay with the right pile, saying, "We found a King over there last time, so lets try it with this pile." Spell K-I-N-G as above and turn over a King, dealing it to the table. Replace the pile on the table.
D) Pick up the left pile and spell Q-U-E-E-N. Turn over the matching Queen and deal it onto the King.
Stay with the left pile and repeat steps A, B, C and D. In the end, you will have all four couples reunited, and you have two face-down cards in your hand (Jokers or Aces).
Conclude by tossing these face up onto the table, saying, "I told you they were the best!"
